And people say science meetings are boring

This is one serious WTF!?

Scientists at a climate change conference got a big surprise when "burlesque entertainment" was brought in.

ANU just got ranked higher in my books. But not everyone feels that way, several conference attendees were shocked and aghast at the spectacle.
"The dancer said in hindsight, it might have been better if the organiser who booked the entertainment, Professor Mike Hutchinson from the Centre for Resource and Environment Studies at the ANU, had told the scientists about the planned entertainment.

"I think he wanted it to be a surprise. And it was a surprise," she said."

Who were the dancers in question? University staff and students, who just liked dancing.

The seven dancers ranged in age from their mid-20s to mid-50s, and included a lab technician, a sex therapist and a number of psychology students, she said.

Sadly the stunt has lost the organisers funding and support. Though I suspect, like a few Chinese funerals, any future conferences they hold in the near future might get more than appropriate number of attendees.
