Bad Luck Hitachi

Would it be wrong for me not to recommend Amity-Hitachi as an ideal workplace? I love Amity. I don't exactly mind Hitachi - nice people, nice food places, and not quite nothing to do. But foreign teachers at Amity Hitachi don't exactly seem to be having the best of luck.

The two teachers before us both went on seperate trips to Mainland Asia after their term here. One left half his luggage on a train in Japan - and we haven't heard much of anything from him since. The other lost her luggage crossing the border of Cambodia - which also included her passport. Not to mention her friend who was supposed to meet her in China didn't show up.

The two teachers before them were involved in a nasty car accident which is best not mention around the people who knew them - one of them died and the other broke his leg and had to be sent home -- which is the reason why two new teachers are arriving at the same time here. And its always great to know this happened just round the corner from our apartment, and after leaving a bar we go to every now and again.

Now for us. I've had minor bad luck. I've cut my finger in school. Burnt myself with a firework. And been bitten by a few students. But Helen's just getting shitloads this week. Her grandfather died - and her family didn't tell her so she'd be writing her grandmother letters addressed to both of them. And then her boyfriend, who until now had seemed to be acting like a jerk, turns out to have a recurrence of cancer ina place where guys do not want anything, let alone cancer, to be wrong. So she goes back to England next week for his operation. And to top it off the stress has been giving her angina (heart pain). Hopefully a little break and all that healthy British food (battered chips, chocolate and tea) will help her out.

So let's hope no bad-ass shit hits me. I'm quite happy and enjoying myself for the most part. Go away bad shit vibe, go away.
